0:13
you have
0:14
said that there are
0:17
no goals in life no purpose
0:20
and yet we are all here with
0:24
enlightenment as our goal
0:28
please speak on this.
0:33
if you are here
0:38
with enlightenment as your goal
0:42
you cannot be here.
0:46
physically you may appear to be here
0:49
[Music]
0:50
but you cannot be with me
0:55
the goal is in the future
1:01
i am here and the mind which is goal
1:05
oriented
1:07
is bound to be in the future
1:11
we will never meet
1:12
[Music]
1:14
i know you are here
1:18
to attend something
1:20
[Music]
1:22
that’s why you are missing it
1:26
i am here to persuade you
1:29
to drop the very idea of attaining
1:31
anything whatsoever
1:34
enlightenment moksha nirvan god
1:38
included
1:40
[Music]
1:42
if you drop this goal oriented mind
1:45
and there is none other than goal
1:48
oriented mind there is no other mind
1:51
if you drop it you are enlightened
1:55
enlightenment is not a search
1:58
[Music]
2:00
it is a realization it is not a goal
2:04
it is the very nature of life itself
2:09
as life is it is enlightened
2:14
it needs nothing to be added
2:17
to be improved life
2:21
is perfect it is not moving from
2:24
imperfection to perfection it is moving
2:27
from perfection to perfection
2:35
you are here to attend something
2:39
that is functioning as a barrier
2:45
drop that barriers
2:48
just be here
2:52
forget about any purpose life cannot
2:54
have any purpose
2:59
life is the purpose
3:02
how it can have any other purpose
3:04
[Music]
3:06
otherwise you will be in an
3:10
infinite regress then that
3:13
purpose will have another purpose then
3:16
that another purpose will have another
3:18
purpose
3:21
life has no purpose
3:23
[Music]
3:25
and that’s why it is so beautiful
3:27
[Music]
3:30
hindus have called it to Lila a play
3:35
it is not even a game
3:36
[Laughter]
3:39
now in the west the world game has
3:41
become very very important
3:44
[Music]
3:45
hundreds of books have been published
3:47
within two three years
3:49
with the title game: the master game
3:54
the ultimate game the game people play
3:58
and so on so forth but there is a
4:02
difference between game
4:03
and play hindus have called it
4:06
play not game because even a game has
4:10
something as a purpose a result
4:14
to be attained victory to be achieved
4:19
the opponent has to be conquered then a
4:22
play becomes again
4:25
then it becomes serious
4:28
grown-ups play games
4:33
children only play
4:37
just the very activity
4:39
[Music]
4:41
is enough unto itself it has the
4:44
intrinsic end
4:46
there is no goal added to it
4:50
life is a lila
4:53
it is a play and the moment
4:57
you are ready to play you are
4:58
enlightened
5:03
try to understand from some other
5:05
dimension
5:09
you are already that which you are
5:11
trying to be
5:14
the more you try the more you will miss
5:18
you leave all first
5:22
you simply accept yourself you just
5:25
be that suddenly it is there
5:29
it has always been there but you were
5:33
seeking so seriously
5:35
that was the only cause of missing it
5:40
you are here to attain something
5:43
enlightenment
5:44
samadhi satori or something
5:48
to me all those words are nonsense
5:51
[Music]
5:56
because they again give you a new
5:59
line of desiring they again open a door
6:03
of desires
6:06
in the world you desire money power
6:08
prestige
6:10
then you get fed up with it
6:11
[Music]
6:13
then you see the whole thing is just
6:16
rubbish
6:17
even if you get you are defeated if you
6:20
don’t get
6:21
you are defeated then you come to feel
6:25
that this whole thing is nonsense
6:27
now suddenly you start playing new games
6:31
enlightenment meditation yoga
6:34
god the other world
6:38
the other source
6:41
again the mind is at ease
6:45
a new world of desires has opened
6:48
now you will be after these goals
6:52
and money is not so elusive as
6:55
meditation
6:55
[Music]
6:58
this world at least
7:03
is solid
7:06
that soul that world the other world is
7:09
absolutely fantastic
7:11
[Music]
7:13
now you are in a deeper ditch than
7:15
before
7:17
with the first you could realize that it
7:20
is useless
7:21
with the second now it will take
7:23
millions of life to realize
7:25
that this too is useless
7:29
when one person comes to discover
7:33
that all goals are useless with no
7:36
exception all goals are useless
7:40
then there is nothing to do one just has
7:44
to be
7:45
[Music]
7:47
one relaxes and one relaxes so
7:51
totally because there is nothing to do
7:52
there is no tension
7:55
suddenly your boundaries melts
7:59
as is no melting in the morning sun
8:04
with nothing to do you disappear
8:07
the ego disappears with nothing to do
8:12
nothing to be nothing to achieve
8:17
who you will be the whole identity
8:21
evaporates this is enlightenment
8:27
then you start a totally different
8:30
way of life
8:34
you start being playful
8:38
you start being alive moment to moment
8:42
[Music]
8:43
nowhere to go whatsoever the life keeps
8:47
you accepted with deep gratitude
8:52
grace happens to you
8:55
this is what i’ll call to become a god
9:00
the moment you start playing
9:04
living in the moment you have become a
9:06
god
9:09
i am here to persuade you
9:12
that you are already gods
9:17
you may be here to become gods
9:21
that’s your trip i’m not concerned with
9:24
it
9:27
i know what i’m here
9:30
for just to persuade you
9:34
to look at your own face once again
9:40
to search within and not to go without
9:43
searching for something which doesn’t
9:46
exist
9:49
life is a purposeless play
9:53
play of infinite forces
9:56
beautiful if you don’t have a achiever’s
9:58
mind
10:01
ugly if you have ambition
10:04
to become something to be something to
10:07
do something
10:11
relax
10:12
[Music]
10:15
drop the future completely
10:20
only this moment exists
10:21
[Music]
10:24
and this moment is eternity
10:26
[Music]
10:28
and only this life is all
10:32
that is there
10:33
[Music]
10:36
don’t think of an other soul just the
10:38
other day i was telling the chinese
10:40
allegory
10:41
the man returned from the middle of the
10:43
river
10:45
he returned from the middle of the river
10:47
because there is no other source
10:49
this is the only source
10:52
and why he started laughing because he
10:55
suddenly realized he himself is the
10:57
buddha
10:58
whom he has been seeking
11:03
sin masters teach to their disciples
11:07
that meditating if you someday come
11:09
across buddha
11:10
kill him immediately
11:14
don’t despair a single moment
11:17
kill him immediately otherwise he will
11:21
lead you astray they are right
11:24
while you are meditating krishna comes
11:26
with his flute
11:28
it’s so beautiful again you are dreaming
11:34
again you are caught in a dream and
11:35
desire
11:37
and jesus comes and you are caught
11:41
in the web of the mind it is a spider’s
11:45
bell and then buddha comes
11:49
and you forget yourself
11:53
the same master said kill the buddha
11:55
immediately
11:58
clear the the way don’t allow anybody
12:02
else to be there
12:03
that is don’t allow any gold to be there
12:06
[Music]
12:07
just be total
12:11
alone in your absolute purity
12:17
this is enlightenment
12:18
[Music]
12:22
i should repeat because i know you will
12:24
forget
12:25
and forget and forget you are already
12:28
that
12:28
which you are seeking let this will be
12:32
the basic mantra
12:34
[Music]
12:36
if you can understand this mantra you
12:38
have understood all
12:42
give it a try
12:43
[Music]
12:46
to goals you have been giving
12:49
too many lives you have already given to
12:51
them
12:54
now try to live momentum movement as if
12:57
there is no future
12:59
in the beginning it will be only as if
13:02
but by and by you will become aware
13:06
that that as if is the only reality
13:09
in the beginning it may be just like
13:11
acting
13:15
soon you will realize that that
13:18
acting is the only reality
13:23
you have come with a ghost but i won’t
13:26
allow you
13:28
to remain with your goals

  1. He speaks with an accent, so the loud musical accompaniment makes this audio impossible for me to understand. I was not able to find a version on the Web without the music.

    1. Dear David, I am sorry for your difficulties in hearing this amazing recording.

I have added the raw, unedited transcript; it requires some effort to read, but it is priceless.

Maybe you can listen to the humming of his voice and read at the same time?

From my own experience I can say that Mr. Mind tries everything possible to prevent the seeing of the obvious; maybe your hearing difficulties are just psycho-somatic (but that’s not the point of this comment).

Please give it another try, or several more…
like Mooji says: go for Gold, not peanuts!

Thank you for your sincerity of not giving up and your humility of giving up the struggle that seemingly prevented you from embracing with your heart what mind cannot understand.

Everything can become a stumbling block; even sincerity and noble intentions can be hijacked by Mr. Mind.

Thank you David for your openness; it can feel quite humiliating to see that what we always longed for, and tried so hard to reach, IS always here and now, as I am.

      Peace,
      Holger

  2. Holger,

I awoke this morning to your public reply to David on nondualsharing.com. I have typed this reply in a separate window and will not send it immediately. I may not send it at all. An energy drain.

“From my own experience I can say that Mr. Mind tries everything possible to prevent the seeing of the obvious; maybe your hearing difficulties are just psycho-somatic (but that’s not the point of this comment).”

What is the point of the comment Holger? Is it to sell this video that you have given meaning to as “priceless”?

Is it to say in a passive-aggressive way that David need not get his hearing checked, it’s all in his head?

Is it to say prescribe your brand of “what works”?

Is it to present an example of classic passive-aggressive rhetoric in saying things like “Thank you for your sincerity of not giving up and your humility of giving up the struggle that seemingly prevented you from embracing with your heart what mind cannot understand.”

That last part, by the way, you have misquoted from the poem “Take Heart, Seeker”. It is “your mind cannot know what your heart has never forgotten.”

    This reply is beneath you.

And yet, at the end, you manage to exhibit the spiritual arrogance of a “proclaimer” in saying “it can feel quite humiliating to see that what we always longed for, and tried so hard to reach, IS always here and now, as I am.”

Whom are you speaking to? Enlightened Holger to poor humiliated Holger before enlightenment? Who gets enlightened? Is this a teaching from a realized being I am failing to grasp? If so, I beg of you 1000 pardons.

I’m curious. “Noble intentions” you say? Where are those in this post?

You speak of “humility”? And then end with “Peace”?

In reading this post this morning it is clear to me that this feud you keep throwing fuel on does not show a desire for peace.

Please stop this pointless energy drain and clear dislike for David. Stop the bullying veiled in spiritual jargon. My paraphrased suggestion is to (as you said to David), please read your reply another time, maybe several more, go for gold, not for petty passive-aggressive arguments.

And please remove me from receiving email notifications of these comments.

    Sincerely,

    Walter

  3. Thank you Walter for your sharing.

I can relate to David’s hearing issues; I shared my own experience of not always hearing clearly; and for myself (body-mind) I saw a psycho-somatic connection.

I wasn’t thinking about your book when I quoted or misquoted, but I will read your comment again and take it to heart.

Thank you for your comment; why do we meet, what do we share? To see what is really here. What we see in an “another” is our own mind content.

Please stay with it, pretend some openness, don’t run away. “Remove me from the list”… is this the same energy that some weeks ago made you quit Telegram?

This is not a blame, not an expectation.

I really appreciate your sharing; it is priceless to have an opportunity to face our “me” stuff; we all sit in the same boat.

I allow myself to use words, I deeply enjoy this audio from Osho, that’s why I call it priceless.

Thank you Walter for your openness to share, to look at what arises.

Are we so different from each “other”?
Thank for your invitation for me to look below the surface.

    Arrogance, confusion, misunderstanding…

On a scale from 0 to 10, how much peace and aggression was in your comment? I welcome it, it is good, it is always a win-win.

I love you and I thank you,
    Holger

  4. Dear Walter,
I re-read my comment to David.

I don’t see a double-mindedness in it; but I still take your words to heart. Maybe my arrogance and ignorance are so deeply ingrained that I don’t see them anymore?

Thank you for your forgiveness, your love for truth.

“What seems to be, is, to those to whom it seems to be, and is productive of the most dreadful consequences to those to whom it seems to be, even of torments, despair, eternal death.”
    William Blake

  5. Dear Holger and Walter, I feel moved to reply to your interchange. I will also email this to Walter, since he has unsubscribed to comments.

Whenever individual people communicate, there is the risk of misunderstanding. This is because we all have a web of beliefs (conditioning) that dictate how we say things and what concepts we emphasize, sometimes regardless of context.

However, when two people misunderstand each other and conflict arises from it, this is an indication that further communication is valuable. No, there is no guarantee that there will be a meeting of minds or a resolution of problems. But a bit of peaceful communication is always a positive step.

“Maybe my arrogance and ignorance are so deeply ingrained that I don’t see them anymore?”; “Am I just being fake?” (from today’s meeting)

Holger, you do have a unique way of interacting with people. You tend to write or speak in ways that challenge the mind. This is what Walter calls “passive aggression”. It is an unfortunate tendency, as you do have a profound understanding of nonduality and are often helpful to those in our meeting who feel lost during a period of spiritual confusion.

The problem is not so much with what you are trying to say but with how you are saying it in relation to what is the current context or situation. Simply put, you can’t ask dogmatic questions when the person you are communicating with did not ask for your feedback. That’s just uncivil.

In communicating with others we can appeal to the mind or we can state nondual dogma. For example, gently pointing out to someone how their thoughts and beliefs are constantly changing (as so many teachers do) is a good start to leading the mind toward an understanding of the nature of awareness, our true self. But loudly proclaiming that our behavior doesn’t matter because the world is an illusion is easy to be heard as dogma in service to passive aggression, a mode of expression of the ego.

People don’t improve in their behavior easily when they feel justified in pursuing their current course. Currently, for example, Holger feels justified (based on his own experience) in asking me whether my difficulty in hearing could be psychosomatic. And Walter feels justified (based on his own experience) in calling that question passive-aggressive.

There is a bit of truth in each of these comments. There is also a bit of unrelated reaction based on conditioning in each of these comments. This out-of-proportion reactivity (a sort of imperfection) is to be expected while we are on a spiritual path, that is, not yet at the goal (which is permanent self-realization and freedom in peace and happiness).

All I ask is that we be kind to ourself and tolerant of the other. Let’s try to use this event as another of our life experiences that can teach us something subtle. Seeing this interchange without attachment can help us to be more helpful to each other, to see that we are all in the same boat of spiritual progress.

Let’s not try to force ourselves or another to change. That won’t work. That can keep conflict alive for us, blocking our ability to grow and make progress along our path. Instead, let’s give the practical philosophy of nonduality the time it needs to loosen the hold of the mind so that we can identify with the unchanging field of formless awareness within which and out of which all events, objects, concepts, and meaning of the body, mind, and world are manifested.

    David

  6. Holger this is the third request to have you unsubscribe me from receiving comment updates. I’m not interested in receiving an email every time someone comments here. Please, no more personal emails appealing for me to reconsider, I’d just appreciate you do this. I can read the comments on my own time, at my own leisure. As you may not have considered, I must monitor my phone for work purposes, for responding to emergencies. The less I am interrupted with excess notifications the better. If I could turn these notifications off myself, I would do so. Thank-you.
